Knowing What To Do In A Wreck

Monday, May 25th, 2009

When you are driving around looking for a Japanese vehicle or even a Toyota for sale, you have the potential to get into a car wreck.  Car wrecks are nerve wracking experiences, and even a minor fender bender can create havoc and confusion.  Do you know what to do in the event of a car accident?  Do you know how to react?  Many people do not and it is imperative to know what steps both you and the other person involved, if there is one, should do when an accident occurs.

Here are some steps everyone should follow when a car accident - no matter how minor - occurs.

1. Remain calm.  This will help you stay in control of the situation and allow you to keep your wits about you so that you can help both yourself and the other driver involved if applicable.

2. Make sure that all of your passengers are all right after making sure that you are not injured.  Move your vehicle to the side of the road but stay at the scene of the wreck.  Put your hazard lights on to warn other traffic that there was an accident and if you have flares and markers set them out to warn others.

3. Call the police to report the accident.

4. Call the insurance company and report to them that there has been an accident.  The sooner they know that there has been an accident the sooner they can start resolving your accident claim.

5. Never admit that you were at fault for the accident.  You need to protect yourself legally so it is imperative that you do not discuss the accident with anyone besides the police and your insurance company.  Do not even discuss the accident with the other driver if one was involved.

6. Exchange your insurance information with the other person involved in the accident if applicable.  Write down the name, address, phone number and license numbers of all drivers and witnesses, particularly those who were not riding in a vehicle involved in the accident. Make sure you get the other persons insurance information, including their policy number.

Always make sure that you have adequate insurance coverage on your vehicle at all times so that you are protected.  Accidents can cause serious damage to your vehicle or your body.  Proper insurance will help pay for repairs to your car and medical bills that may have occurred.

Using Japanese Car Parts

Monday, May 25th, 2009

Owning a used Demio or Chariot Grandis has probably saved you a considerable amount of money through the years.  After all, Japanese cars are some of the most reliable vehicles on the market today.  However, you use your vehicle day in and day out so making sure it remains safe to drive at all times is imperative.  It is important that you keep up on routine checkups for your car and know exactly what may need to be replaced and how long you have before you have to invest in the new parts.  Eventually you will have to sink some money into repairs and parts for your Japanese car, but if you keep up on the maintenance this cost should be minimal.  It is a good idea to use Japanese car parts on your Japanese car.

Like the cars themselves, Japanese car parts last longer than the less expensive brands and you find OEM rated parts for every Japanese auto on the market.  You can find an assortment of car parts including pistons, connecting rods, boost controllers, coil overs, cam gears, steering wheels, air-line compressors, fenders and more.  You may balk a bit at the price of the part, but it is better to pay a few extra dollars and get a part that is going to last than have to change the part in a few months.

You can purchase Japanese car parts at a 50 to 70 percent savings for your car overall and they are great for starting your own auto parts business.  Drive through your town on any given day and count the number of Japanese cars that are being driven.  Plus you can generally order these car parts over the Internet for less than what you will pay purchasing them at your local auto part store, and that is if they even carry the parts in the first place.  Most do, but sometimes you run into a snag when you need a lesser known car part.

An online parts store is going to carry a wider range of parts for your used Vista.  You can browse through the selections, read up on the part and the different options for your car model, and order it without ever leaving home.  If you need parts for your used Demio or Chariot Grandis, consider looking for them online first and only use genuine Japanese car parts for your used Starlet.  It is a sound investment.

Honda Researches Powertrain Alternatives

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

In an effort to replace the standard powertrain in all of the vehicles, Honda has started to research alternative methods of powering their vehicles.  While you will be able to find an older Honda for sale at the many used car dealers around the nation, you may not be able to find one of these alternative Honda vehicles with the exception of one with a hybrid engine.  The company is looking into ways to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions as well as sustain energy in their vehicles.  If they are successful, there will be more natural gas and hydrogen refueling stations cropping up over the land.  Plus, some of these stations could be Hiace Wagon in your own back yard.

Honda was the first auto manufacturer to introduce hybrid vehicles to the American market.  The Insight hybrid was not well received because it ran only on electric power.  It used Honda’s patented Integrated Motor Assist technology, and while it is the best and most environmentally sound way to power a vehicle, people did not care for the way it ran.  The system is low mass with a small electric motor and battery pack that was designed to keep the company from having to reengineer the entire engine system.  Honda is still working on this technology and has come a long way since introducing it to the world.  With a smaller internal combustion engine coupled with the electric power, they have managed to produce two fuel-efficient and powerful hybrids in the Civic and Accord.

In addition to the electric hybrid, Honda has been working with natural gas vehicles for the last ten years.  Already they have a Civic NGV vehicle that was built in the Honda factory in Ohio alongside the regular engine Civics for instance Vitz for sale.  While the natural gas vehicle market is still well into the future, especially considering many people will have refueling centers at their homes, Honda feels that developing this type of car is best done now and not later.

Finally, the company introduced their third generation fuel cell vehicle in 2003, surprising the entire auto industry.  This generation of vehicle uses a rust proof stamped steel separator with aromatic electrolytic membranes.  It is a smaller stack that has double the power than anything that has come before.  More than likely this will be the vehicle Honda introduces to the world in place of the natural gas car, simply because the stacks can be massed produced and are more economical for the company and their customers.

Performance Wagons For Your Family

Monday, May 11th, 2009

Performance wagons come in many different styles, shapes, and colors, but getting the right one for your family can be a daunting task when you go to buy one.  If you want the best for your family then you should look for a Caldina Wagon for sale or a Hiace Wagon for sale.  Both of these vehicles are excellent choices if you are looking for stability, reliability and fuel efficiency.  They are not just designed to haul big loads.  They are designed to perform at peak levels.

The Caldina Wagon that was produced between 1997 and 2002 is one of the nicest vehicles that can be had on the used car market.  The GT-T version of the Caldina Wagon is the turbocharged version and it comes with constant all wheel drive, a small to medium body style, and strut type suspensions.  It came as a four speed automatic or a five speed manual transmission.  What is great about this wagon is that it also had a trans version overdrive lockout button with gear selections on the steering wheel.  With supportive seats and an angling steering wheel, it makes driving easy and comfortable.  Plus, the interior is filled with plenty of room for passengers.

The Toyota Hiace is another performance wagon that is very popular with families and it has been exported to almost all of the countries around the world.  Not only is it good for carting the family around, it is also perfect for people who own their business.  It is dependable and there is no problem finding spare parts for it since it is such a popular wagon van.  The Hiace comes in a five speed manual transmission, automatic transmission, and four wheel drive.  The engine choices include both gasoline and diesel, and range from 2.0 and 2.4 liter petrol and 2.8 and 2.0 liter diesel.

Whether you prefer the Hiace or the Caldina Wagon you will find that they are both perfect for families who crave space for all of the kids, equipment, pets, and more.  They are reasonably priced, especially used versions, and if you cannot find one in the United States you can export one from Japan.  There are numerous Japanese car exporters available to help you find the perfect Mazda Demio or Chariot Grandis.  You will save money exporting them from Japan and you may even be lucky enough to get one that still has some of the original warranty left on it as well as low mileage.

Mitsubishi Recall Affects 2008 And 2009 Cars

Monday, May 11th, 2009

Auto manufacturer Mitsubishi has recently announced a recall on their 2008 and 2009 Lancer and Outlander vehicles, and if you should happen to own one of these Japanese used cars you may wish to check and see if you are one of the 39,711 people who are affected.  According to the announcement, the Mitsubishi car that is affected could have a faulty brake booster check valve.  It is reported that the valve could stick when the car is turned off and it can cause you to have little to no brakes under certain circumstances when you turn the car on again.

Owners of Lancers and Outlanders noticed the problem in the Japanese Domestic Market and reported that their brakes were not functioning the way they should be when they first set off in the morning for their daily commute.  So far 15,023 Lancers and 24,688 Outlanders have been identified.  All of the vehicles were manufactured between October 23, 2007 and January 20, 2009.  Owners were supposed to be identified immediately and all repairs are to be made with no cost to the owner starting in April.

According to the actual recall notification on these Mitsubishi car models, the material used for the brake booster was not of the correct “material composition”.  This causes the check valve to stick closed during engine shut off.  While this may not seem an immediate issue, it is a problem when the car is once again put into motion.  The phrase ヤunder certain driving conditions’ refers to slow vehicle driving where there is insufficient braking when the driverユs foot is pressed to the brake pedal and pressure applied.

When this valve sticks, the stopping distance that the driver normally expects is severely reduced.  This means that the driver will have to compensate for the lack of brake pressure and begin stopping much further back than normal.  If they do not, a crash may occur.  If you are the owner of one of these Mitsubishi car models and you are unsure whether or not your vehicle is included in the recall, you can contact Mitsubishi at 1-800-222-0037.  You may not have received a recall letter if you have moved residences since purchasing your car.  The recall number to be referenced is SR-09-002.

Even if you are fairly positive that your Lancer or Outlander is not one of these affected vehicles, it may be a good idea to notate the VIN on the car and contact Mitsubishi to verify it.
