In an effort to replace the standard powertrain in all of the vehicles, Honda has started to research alternative methods of powering their vehicles.  While you will be able to find an older Honda for sale at the many used car dealers around the nation, you may not be able to find one of these alternative Honda vehicles with the exception of one with a hybrid engine.  The company is looking into ways to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions as well as sustain energy in their vehicles.  If they are successful, there will be more natural gas and hydrogen refueling stations cropping up over the land.  Plus, some of these stations could be Hiace Wagon in your own back yard.

Honda was the first auto manufacturer to introduce hybrid vehicles to the American market.  The Insight hybrid was not well received because it ran only on electric power.  It used Honda’s patented Integrated Motor Assist technology, and while it is the best and most environmentally sound way to power a vehicle, people did not care for the way it ran.  The system is low mass with a small electric motor and battery pack that was designed to keep the company from having to reengineer the entire engine system.  Honda is still working on this technology and has come a long way since introducing it to the world.  With a smaller internal combustion engine coupled with the electric power, they have managed to produce two fuel-efficient and powerful hybrids in the Civic and Accord.

In addition to the electric hybrid, Honda has been working with natural gas vehicles for the last ten years.  Already they have a Civic NGV vehicle that was built in the Honda factory in Ohio alongside the regular engine Civics for instance Vitz for sale.  While the natural gas vehicle market is still well into the future, especially considering many people will have refueling centers at their homes, Honda feels that developing this type of car is best done now and not later.

Finally, the company introduced their third generation fuel cell vehicle in 2003, surprising the entire auto industry.  This generation of vehicle uses a rust proof stamped steel separator with aromatic electrolytic membranes.  It is a smaller stack that has double the power than anything that has come before.  More than likely this will be the vehicle Honda introduces to the world in place of the natural gas car, simply because the stacks can be massed produced and are more economical for the company and their customers.
